Sunday, May 27, 2012 Daily Update

For those of you not following me in social media, I want to give you an update on some things I’ve been up to.

TRAVEL

I’m been in beautiful San Diego since early April. On a personal level, I’ve been doing some fun things like:

I celebrated my partner Steve Jones’ 30th birthday. It was a week long celebration with friends and family. So much fun!

I did my first 5k last week. This was a HUGE bucket list thing for me. The race was at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center. I have to tell you – what an inspiring place to do a 5k – whether it is your 1st or 20th 5k! The race went around the grounds and with the Olympics around the corner, we saw many athletes in training. I’ve uploaded some pictures to my Flickr account here. I’m hoping to finish a 5k within 30 minutes by year end.

I’ve also been doing things like going to the annual San Diego Sicilian Festival in Little Italy. That was awesome! Live entertainment. Loads of tasty food to try. Lots of interesting vendors. There was also an exhibit of old cars. If you’re a roadster fan like I am, you’d have loved it. I fell in love with an Alfa Romeo 1960 Giuletta. It’s been added to my bucket list to get within the next year! I just need to settle down in one place long enough to get it. Here are some photos from the festival including my car at Flickr.

FACEBOOK TIP

I get a lot of activity on my personal Facebook page (p.s. you can subscribe to my updates there). A typical day means 100+ comments.

Yesterday, I hardly had any comments or likes left. I was wondering what was going on. At the end of the day I figured out what happened. I normally have all of my updates set to “public.” On Thursday I had uploaded a video to a limited group using Facebook’s custom setting. I had forgotten I needed to change future updates manually back to public. Oops! Fortunately you can change settings on previous updates so I was able to fix everything up once I realized the problem.

BUSINESS

Business has been super crazy. It’s a challenge to build new companies when your existing ones are growing. Fortunately, I’ve got great people on my ever-expanding team that are helping my dreams turn into reality.

My assistant of 13+ years – Tressa Smith – recently retired. I brought on one of my best friends from high school – Cara Doucette. Cara’s fitting in perfectly. If you have a reason to contact my customer support team, make sure to give her a big welcome!

Every month at my Doma.in site, Steve and I produce a new monthly video giving tips on domain names. The May video gave 9 tips for ensuring a successful domain purchase. If you ever find yourself wanting to buy a domain name, you’ll want to check this out.

Often people ask me about where the best place to register domain names is. We are now offering registration services through ComEtc. We’re offering competitive pricing so bookmark our site for the next time you need to pick up a domain name!

While in San Diego, along with Steve, we gave one of our popular Domain Boot Camp workshops. This is a 2 day event where we walk people through everything you want to know about domain names. The event sold out a few weeks before we held it. It’s a fun, chilled event for all attendees.

The next workshop is in San Diego in September and spots are going fast. There’s an early bird discount and multi payment option. If you have any interest in domains, check it out! If your client/subscriber/reader base may have an interest in domains, we also have an affiliate program. So even if you won’t be able to attend, you can put some extra cash in your bank account by referring others.

Speaking of domains, we’re wrapping up our May special – offering hundreds of domains at only $99 each. There are some great domains on this list – wayyyyy under what we normally charge for them. If you’re looking for a domain for a new project or even an idea for something to start online, this sale might give you some ideas. Check it out here.

In the next 2 weeks, I’ll be rolling out two new sites – EarnMoreDoingLess.com and BrandedTweets.com.

Interested in building a real, scalable business? Having trouble putting the pieces together to grow your business? That’s what EarnMoreDoingLess (EMDL) will be focused on. There will be loads of free content and I’m also rolling out my EMDL Test Lab. I’m really excited about this.

BrandedTweets.com is launching with a Twitter training program for those having a difficult time figuring out how to make Twitter work for them. Even if you’re not yet on Twitter at all, it will help you cover the basics. Once the training program launches, we’ll have an ongoing blog and be rolling out more advanced training programs. I’m working on this with Twitter rockstar Mia von Doom. I’m thrilled about this venture! Due to my presence on Twitter and exposure, almost daily, I have someone asking me for a recommendation of a training program.

MOVING FORWARD

Whew… I’ve covered an awful lot in this email after being quiet for so long!

If you want to continue to receive updates, there’s nothing to do. If you don’t want updates, just click on the link at the bottom of any email and you’ll be removed.

I’d love if you could drop by my Facebook page and say hi, leave any comments or questions you may have. Have a fabulous weekend friends!

xoxo

Sharon
